Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, extended on March 23 congratulations to Thongloun Sisoulith on his re-election as president of Laos. The year 2026 marks the 65th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations as well as the Year of China-Laos Friendship, Xi said, adding that the two sides will hold a series of events of celebration to inject impetus into deepening the friendship between the two peoples.
