    　　一路上我們也遇到當地人，但他們對這種險峻的道路和周圍環境都已經習以為常。原住民的后代旁吉人還沿著公路邊建起小農場。海拔較高地區的伯特人說藏語，大多數以畜牧為生。為了在惡劣的環境中生存，他們腌制肉類，存儲大麥，還釀造一種在當地被稱為“patru”或“rakh”的烈酒。冬季，整個山谷會被白雪吞沒，是當地人最難熬的日子。通過公路抵達昌巴需要兩天時間，在需要醫療急救時，政府會安排直升機為民眾服務。圖為勇氣可嘉的公交車司機會在這條單車道公路上往來。
